It snowed last night!  Not a whole lot, but just enough for me to go sledding for the first time!  It was so much fun, but my hands got frozen.  I need better mittens!  The rest of my body was warm because I had a snowsuit Grandma Nancy & Great Aunt Trudy found for me when we were in Minnesota last year.  It fits me perfectly!  Our driveway is the perfect length and the perfect angle for sledding.  The only problem is that it angles toward the road, so I have to wait until Mommy is ready at the end of the driveway.  It's so much fun!  I giggle so much!  Then, when we were all finished...Daddy had hot chocolate ready for me!  Yummy!  I can't wait until it snows more!

Mommy and Daddy finally took me to their doctor.  They seem to be happy with that because he is not afraid to run tests in order to figure out what is going on with my tummy.  Mommy and Daddy said they don't want to just guess what is wrong, they want to know.  They figure running a few tests will not hurt me, so why not go ahead and do it to be more conclusive in a diagnosis.  Hopefully it's something easy to fix.  Their doctor wants Mommy and Daddy to make an appointment with a pediatric gastroenterologist.  He said the best bet would be to go to one that is located at one of the children's hospitals because they have access to more kid friendly devices and that will most likely make it less traumatic on me.  Unfortunately, they're all booked up for a couple of weeks, so in the mean time my new doctor is running all of the tests that he can.  That way we don't have to waste time on these tests once we get in to see the specialist.  I hope we figure out what is wrong with my tummy soon.

I can spell my name!!  Mommy and I have been working on this for a while now, so when she picked me up from school on Monday (01/25/10) I thought I would surprise her.  We went through the same routine of Mommy asking me what I did at school that day.  I told her I had snack, played break the ice and spelled my name.  Mommy was so excited.  Then she asked me how to spell it...So, there I was, in my car seat while Mommy was driving me home from school and I said, "A and E and R and I then S!"  Mommy was so proud!  She had to stop the car and turn around to give me a hug!  Of course, I was proud too and had a bid smile on my face.  We work on it each day!  It's so much fun.  Sometimes I get the R and the I mixed up, but Mommy helps me fix it.

Today when Mommy picked me up from school I told her I had Popcorn for a snack!  That was yummy!  Then every object I saw, I would tell Mommy what letter it started with.  Like the school bus we passed...I said, "School bus starts with S!"  Then I saw your house and I told Mommy that house starts with H, then boy starts with B, then Mommy asked me what letter girl starts with...I was a little confused and said H, but then Mommy asked me what sound H makes and I told her hhhhh and she asked me if that sounded like girl, go or green...I said no...then said G!  I can't wait until Daddy gets home from work so that I can tell him!!

Well, I've been having stomach problems for a while now.  I really think it started way back in November or so.  At first it wasn't a big deal.  Mommy just noticed differences in my diaper and maybe a little crankiness from me, but not much.  Well, my doctor told her the reason for mucous in my diaper is because I had a cold was probably swallowed some mucous.  He reassured her that it was no big deal.  As time went on my tummy started to hurt more and more, but it was not consistent. Then I started having problems sleeping...I would wake up screaming unconsolably...at first Mommy and Daddy couldn't figure out what was wrong with me.  Then after a few nights of waking up, I finally told Daddy that I had ouchies in my tummy!  This went on for just over a week.  That's when some friends of mine, that I see quite a bit, got diagnosed with an intestinal parasite, called Dientamoeba Fragilis Trophozoites.  They were having the same symptoms as me, so finally Mommy called the doctor and made an appointment.  The nurse on the phone thought that Mommy was wrong and that just because my friends had it, doesn't mean that I had it.  She said that it isn't contagious.  Well, Mommy told her that there is definitely something wrong and Mommy thinks that either it is the parasite or an overgrowth of yeast...either way, we want to see the doctor.  So a couple days later we saw the doctor.  He said he was 90% certain that it was an overgrowth of yeast, so he will test her for that and while they are looking for that, they will also test for ova and parasites.  Mommy and Daddy had to collect two of my bowel movements for the lab to test.  Because of Christmas we knew it would take a couple extra days...so the following week Mommy called the office to see about the results.  The nurse told Mommy the ova and parasite test was normal, so Mommy asked about the yeast and the nurse told her that they haven't recieved anything back about the yeast yet.  Mommy asked why it would take longer and the nurse told Mommy that it shouldn't, but she's not sure why she can't find anything about it...then the nurse said they would call back in a couple of days regarding the yeast.  During all of this, my tummy is still hurting me a whole lot.  The following week Mommy called the doctor again and asked about the yeast because no one had called us.  A different nurse said that they don't test for yeast, the lab just mentions it on the lab report if they happen to find excessive amounts.  Mommy said that is not what the doctor told her since he was 90% certain that is what was wrong with me and that we want to know about the yeast because something is wrong.  The nurse was insistent about the yeast stating that if it wasn't mentioned on the report then everything is fine.  Mommy asked for the doctor to call her back.  When the doctor called Mommy asked him about testing for the yeast and he told her the same thing as the nurses did!  Mommy was shocked!  Then why say they were going to test for yeast since he was 90% certain that is what was wrong...and while they were testing for the yeast, they would test for ova and parasites!?!?  The doctor went on about possible food allergies and wanted me to come in and have my blood drawn so they could check.  So, Mommy called my allergist to see what they reccommended.  They asked if Mommy could have my pediatrician fax over the lab reports so that he can take a look at the tests they just ran...then they will call me back.  So, Mommy did that.  A few hours later my allergists office called and said the doctor wants to know if my pediatrician wants to treat the infection before we start manipulating my diet.  Mommy asked her what infection she was talking about.  The lady said the allergist said the lab found an infection and that Mommy should call my pediatrician and find out about treating that first.  So, that's what Mommy did, but surprise surprise, the pediatricians office is still saying it's negative and there is not infection.  Then, while the lady was looking over the report again she said, "Oooohhhh, let me have Dr. @#$% call you back."  About 2 hours later my pediatrician calls Mommy and says that he got the 2nd stool sample back and that it looks like I had an intestinal parasite.  Mommy asked what it was and he told her Dientamoeba Fragilis Trophozoites!!  The same one that my friends had!!!  Yet, the nurses and even the doctor for that matter, made Mommy feel like she was silly!  Anyway, he prescribed some medicine to take care of it and said that should resolve my symptoms within a couple days.  Well, Mommy thought the way that all of this went on was fishy so the next morning she called my allergists office and asked which stool sample was the one that showed the parasite...the lady on the phone said the 1st!!! sample!  So, the doctor LIED to Mommy!!  He basically misread the report and when my allergist found the parasite, my pediatrician realized he made a mistake and instead of admitting it, he decided to lie and say he just got the 2nd stool sample back and it shows a parasite.  Mommy said she realizes mistakes happen and that's fine; however, it should have been handled in a different way.  She said a doctor should not LIE to their patients, just own up to the mistake.  Mistakes happen, especially over the holidays, that's fine...but just admit it!  So Mommy was upset about that...but was dealing with it...then the following week my tummy was still hurting, so she called my doctor again and asked about the possible yeast overgrowth because my bowel movements were still not right.  Mommy asked to have the doctor call her back so that they could talk about what to do next.  A week and a half went by and the doctor still had not called back, so yesterday Mommy got upset and called the doctors office again (because I'm screaming in pain) and the nurse said she would have the doctor call Mommy back.  Mommy asked if the doctor had been out for the last week or so.  The nurse said no.  Well, Mommy explained that she left a message for the doctor to call her back over a week ago and he still had not called, so she wanted copies of my medical records and that we were on our way to get them.  Then Mommy made me an appointment with another office (we've heard good things, so let's cross our fingers), but they don't have any appointments for new patients until April for one doctor and May for the other.  Mommy explained what was going on with my tummy to the nice lady on the phone and she squeezed us in on Feb. 8th.  Hopefully it doesn't get too bad between now and then, if so I guess we'll try to figure something out.  This morning when I woke up I was screaming that my tummy hurt and I didn't even want to get out of bed.  Finally Mommy was able to help me.  She asked me if I wanted to stay home with her today, but I wanted to go to school.  So, mommy took my temperature and since I wasn't running a fever she let me go to school.  Then when she got home she called the new doctors office and explained my tummy issues again and said that she things it might be an overgrowth of yeast, then asked if it would be okay for Mommy and Daddy to give me Probiotics.  The lady said absolutely!  Just mix half of a capsule in with applesause or yogurt once per day.  Mommy said she really hope that works because it's absolutely horrible for me to be in pain.  While we are waiting two weeks to get to the doctor Mommy and Daddy are keeping track of everything!  What and when I eat, when I complain of pain and how much pain, when I have a movement and what it is like...everything!  That way the doctor will have all of the necessary information to properly treat me because I want to get better!!
